Centenary Lookback Series No 5 - 1950's
As part of the celebrations to mark the centenary of C A Duquemin Ltd, we are carrying out a monthly Facebook lookback over the last 100 years.
By 1950 CAD could now build a new house in the Ville au Roi Estate for Mr R D Mahy for the fixed price of £2867.00. This is in accordance with the plan and specification drawn up by architect Mr W A Robilliard. It’s also interesting to note that this does not allow for electricity. CAD could add 10 light points and 6 power points for a further £52.00.
The average wage for a tradesman at that time was the equivalent of between £5 - £6 per week. See the wage book below.
