Centenary Lookback Series No 1 - The Beginning - Alfred Duquemin

As part of the celebrations to mark the centenary of C A Duquemin Ltd, we will be carrying out a monthly Facebook lookback over the last 100 years.

In 1924 Alfred John Duquemin started in business, trading as a stone mason and builder and was soon advertising in the local paper for labour.

Alfred had a very good reputation and was soon picking up work for the local growing industry. The photo shows the construction of a granite water tower on a vinery site. Note the timber spars used to build a putlog scaffold.
